THE 39th ANNUAL O.HENRY PUN-OFF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
SATURDAY MAY 7, 2015 – ORDER OF EVENTS
11 AM- Noon – REGISTRATION OF CONTESTANTS: Even pre-registered contestants must check in at the registration table to receive their packets and number assignments. At 11:45 AM unclaimed contestant slots may be given to those registered on the stand-by waiting list.
11 AM – Noon – LIVE MUSIC: We’re thrilled to have Emily Gimble & the Free Range Playboys as the musical warm-up for the punsters. Emily is the granddaughter of the legendary Texas fiddler Johnny Gimble and a former member of Asleep at the Wheel.
Bring a blanket and chairs for the close spots on the grass. This year we also have seating under a 80′ x 40′ tent just in case of rain. Listen to their music until the Punniest of Show at Noon.
11 AM – 4 PM – JEST FOR A WORDY CAUSE: The Brush Square Museums Foundation, formerly Friends of the O. Henry and Dickinson Museums, raises money for grants to support the museum programs and artifact preservation. Book Sale: This year we prioritized gently used books over quantity. Prices will still be very reasonable for larger coffee table books, children’s books, and cook books. Beverages: We will also have bottled cold water and soft drinks to sell. Consider joining our nonprofit as a member to receive invitations all year to special Brush Square Museums events. We Kneed Your Dough!
11 AM – 6 PM – FOOD & BEVERAGES: Cold drinks, snacks, and food may be purchased from two food trucks on site. You may bring food, but no alcohol. This year’s food vendors include:
