FOR IMMEDIATE RELIEF:
After months of exhaustive searching and researching, the “Bored of Governors” of the International Save The Pun Foundation (ISTPF) has finally separated the suite from the gaff and is ready to reveal their annual compilation of The 10 Best-Stressed Puns of 2014 (See list below).
Since 1978 when J. S. Crosbie founded the ISTPF in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, it has been a word-leader in the presentation and perpetration of worthy wordplay. Today this tradition is carried on threw out the cyber-sphere by members of P.U.N.Y. (Punsters United Nearly Yearly,) a closely affiliated support group spawned by the perspicacious punslingers of the O.Henry Pun-Off World Championships in Austin, Texas.
You can find more information on both groups on Facebook or follow #PunOff 2015, @leerlessfeeder, or @PUNY2015 on Twitter.
Pun-Off is on Saturday, May 10, 2014
The P.U.N.Y. (Punsters United Nearly Yearly) elves are finally organizing the 37th Annual O. Henry Pun-Off World Championships.
The Pun-Off will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 409 E. Fifth Street, Austin, Texas in the back yard of the O. Henry Museum also known as Brush Square Park. For all you long time Punsters, please note the 10th is the second weekend, not the third weekend. Over the past 36 jears, the Pun-Off World Championships contestant wordplay has been preserved in numerous video recordings. George McClughan started the tradition in the late 80’s using Austin Community Access Television (ACTV) equipment, recording on 3/4 inch U-matic reels. Before he tragically passed away, he assembled a 10-year retrospective tape (1989-1999) from his collection. (Come to the Friday, PUNY dinner when we plan to watch some of it together.)
